A STUDY IN SOFTNESS

A little octopus made of jelly. Eight tapered, curling arms are joined to a plump translucent mantle. Every arm is its own elastic volume, with two rows of tiny concave suction cups.

Elastic edge constraints and tetrahedral volume preservation run at a fixed 120 Hz. The arms are softer and less damped than the mantle. Cups and eyes follow the deforming surface. Their motion comes from elastic constraints, not a looping animation. Ground contact is simulated; arm-to-arm self-collision is not. Density determines mass and energy readouts; the stiffness label is a nominal material-study scale, not a calibrated physical measurement.
